Seeing is commonly referred to as the most important of the senses in man. In the animal world, however, survival often directly depends on seeing, if the prey spied as early as possible or the attacker can be detected in time.

There are countless variants of the eye with different and sometimes amazing properties, which are tailored to the respective lifestyles of the animals. In his documentary "Superaugen", director Dirk Neumann highlights for the SWR the different facets of different visual apparatuses and their special features.

The film score is most of the time orchestral, sometimes big, with choir and percussion or sometimes filigree and enchanting, with smaller ensembles. In the animated sequences of the film, the style changes to electronic music and describes the processes inside the eye with atmospheric ambient cues.
