In the documentary „Zwischen Heimat und Vaterland – Russlanddeutsche Häuslebauer“ director Dennis Siebold accompanies two russlanddeutsche families, building their house all by them self in the south of Germany, to put down roots finally. So the viewer gets to know the families, their history, opinions and traditions – and different approaches to build a house.
The film score describes this topic with instrumentation and composition by mixing traditional, Russian elements with western connoted electro beats. So the music is also therefore torn between these two positions, which all in all define the essence of this score. The accordion plays the leading role and bears harmonically and melodically upon Russia, whereas electro beats and –bass and sounds from the construction side, used as percussive instruments, relate to Germany. But always with that humour and swing the families also unveil each day in the documentary.
